To benefit fully of the properties of essential oils, a diffuser is the most suitable (a few drops suffice). The use of an incense burner is more decorative\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Examples: relaxing diffusions (lavender, citruses, geranium); children (mandarin, petitgrain); respiratory (ravintsara, cedarwood); mosquito repellent (eucalyptus, geranium); anti-infectious (Melaleuca, grapefruit)\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2>2. Dermal application<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Essential oils penetrate the skin and reach the blood vessels.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Essential oils can spread through the entire organism by traversing the skin surface and spreading to all our cells, then being absorbed and joining the body\u2019s blood circulation thus acting on the entire body (organs, glands\u2026) or in the place where it is to be active.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">On the skin, you can apply essential oils in four ways: by massage, by compress, in the bath or under the shower.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/catchymarketing.com.au\/pacific\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/essential-bath-oil.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-9622 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/catchymarketing.com.au\/pacific\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/essential-bath-oil.jpg\" alt=\"essential bath oil\" width=\"252\" height=\"198\" \/><\/a><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">Essential oil bath<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The oil does not dissolve in water. You must mix with a product to dilute easily before pouring it into the bath water (a shower gel, milk, bath salts). This will prevent skin irritation or burning.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Ideal temperature: 36-38\u00b0C<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Duration: 15 to 20 minutes<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Dosage: Mix with a neutral base, EO don&#8217;t mix with water<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Children: 2 to 3 drops of EO \/ Adults: 5 to 10 drops of EO (no more than 10 drops, half of that dose for kids over 8)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Advice: Do not wash after the bath. Dry yourself lightly so as to allow the EO to act on your skin. Avoid eye contact.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Indications: fever, cellulite\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Examples: pain relief baths (lavender, eucalyptus); skincare baths (ylang-ylang, geranium); stimulating baths (lemon, linalool thyme); anti-cellulite baths (eucalyptus, lemon)<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Essential oils for massage<a href=\"https:\/\/catchymarketing.com.au\/pacific\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/essentialoils-for-massage.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-9624 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/catchymarketing.com.au\/pacific\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/essentialoils-for-massage.jpg\" alt=\"essentialoils for massage\" width=\"243\" height=\"189\" \/><\/a><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">In massage, you can use essential oils directly on the skin if<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">you mix them with other vegetable oils.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">These will be virgin cold-pressed without chemical treatment<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">and will be chosen according to taste or indications.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Essential oils in compress<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">6 to 10 drops of EO on a compress or a cotton square and apply directly on the affected area for about 20 minutes.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/h2>\n<h2>3. Taken internally<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Always ask medical advice before taking essential oils internally<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16pt;\">By mouth:<\/span><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">When used internally, essential oils are never taken purely to avoid burning mucous. It is therefore diluted in oil or honey for example. The dosage has to be respected (one drop per 25 kg body mass 3 times a day \u2013 all oils combined and no treatment of more than 3 days should be undertaken without the advice of a health professional).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Such absorption will not be made on an empty stomach nor is it recommended for people suffering from inflammatory problems of the upper gastrointestinal area.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16pt;\">And in cooking?<\/span><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Some essential oils can be used in the preparation of some dishes (the addition of essential oil is always done at the very end of the preparation):<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">*aromatic herbs (basil,\u00a0rosemary,\u00a0thyme,\u2026) in extra virgin olive oil, for example, spices (cinnamon\u2026)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">*citruses (lemon,\u00a0orange\u2026)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Respect the dosage stated as a too-concentrated amount will \u201cspoil\u201d the dish.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">1 or 2 drops is enough for a whole dish.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16pt;\">By rectal route<\/span><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Make your own suppository with a pharmacist&#8217;s formula. What is the recommended\u00a0dilution?<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">For a massage oil applied to an important surface (relaxation), the dosage of EO is 3 to 5 % in a base oil.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">For a massage oil applied to a specific area (cellulite, burn\u2026) the dosage of EO is 4 to 8 % and up to 10 % for a therapeutic application (3 % for children) in a base oil.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">On very rare occasions you can apply EO purely on a small skin surface and when certain of perfect skin tolerance of the essential oil used (eg. Lavender), a few essential oils can be applied directly on the skin, some being irritant, others provoking skin stains when exposed to the sun. You need to take numerous precautions when using them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">We recommend consulting a specialist and always seeking the advice of your doctor before using an EO.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>More information on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.health.qld.gov.au\/news-events\/news\/using-essential-oils-safely\">QLD Health<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>\n<h3>1. Contraindications<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">CHILDREN: keep containers of EO out of reach of children (some containers have a safety cap). As a general rule, don&#8217;t use essential oils with children under the age of three (except if you have a medical\u00a0advice).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">PREGNANT WOMEN or nursing mothers: ask a medical opinion<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">People suffering from hepatitis, allergic or sensitive, having had seizures or convulsions need to be extra careful<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Asthmatics need to avoid essential oils diffusion in their homes.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>2. Usage<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Always wash your hands after a dermal application or a\u00a0massage<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Never apply essential oils near or in the eyes, mucous or ears<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">In the case of eye contact, do not use water (EOs do not dissolve in water) but wash with vegetable oil (preferably almond oil) on a cotton swab or directly on the eyeball. Finish with water or a hydrosol. Consult an ophthalmologist for further precautions.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">In the case of\u00a0accidental intake, do not drink water but try to vomit by ingesting vegetable oil (1 to 3 tablespoons). If it is an important amount or if the person is a child, contact the nearest anti-poison centre.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">In all cases, consult your doctor if in doubt or in the case of serious pathology.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Do not diffuse continuously or close to young children (diffuse for 10 minutes before they enter the room).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>3. Adverse effects<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><strong>Abortive\u00a0essential oils<\/strong>: <span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">they are strictly forbidden for pregnant women as they may cause a miscarriage\u00a0(ex. peppermint, organic sage, vetiver, eucalyptus or eucalyptus dive, Italian Helichrysum,\u2026)<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><strong>Allergenic\u00a0essential<\/strong> oils <span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">and\/or irritating for the respiratory tract: certain molecules (phenols and ketones) may trigger allergies or asthma, notably in the case of atmospheric diffusion (ex. Yarrow, cinnamon, cypress, fragrant inula, lemon balm)<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><strong>Skin sensitive<\/strong>\u00a0essential oils: <span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">certain natural substances are very irritating to the skin and mucous and may provoke burns or irritation. (ex. Possible skin sensitivity: dilute up to 20% at most in a vegetable oil: Dill \u2013 exotic basil \u2013 citruses (Lemon mandarin \u2013 sweet orange) \u2013citronella \u2013 tarragon \u2013 ginger &#8211;\u00a0\u00a0lemongrass &#8211; Lemony litsee \u2013 marjoram \u2013 melaleuca \u2013 pines \u2013 sandalwood \u2013 linalool thyme \u2013 peppermint; Strong skin sensitivity: dilute between 5 and 20% at most in a vegetable oil: Ajowan, cinnamon, clove, oregano, savoury, thymol thyme.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><strong>Neuro-toxic<\/strong>\u00a0essential oils: <span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">these oils contain ketones and lactones that act on the nervous system. Do not use with young children and with pregnant or breastfeeding women (ex. The allergy test<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">We strongly recommend this test before using an essential oil, even more so if you have a tendency to be allergic. In order to test the EO, put a drop in the crook of your elbow and wait for 15 to 20 minutes.
