They grew and cultivated this tree in a large plantation with the aim of producing tea tree essential oil. However, the price of this oil dropped seriously so they decided to turn their interest towards other local plants. At first, they were attracted by an article in the newspaper. Fragonia did not bear a particular name and was just linked to the family of <em>Agonis<\/em>. A botanist at the Australian Department of Agriculture identified it as an aromatic species.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">A bit by chance, getting interested more by their personal perceptions and<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-13695 additional-class alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/catchymarketing.com.au\/pacific\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Agonis_marginata_136-8301-e1572139668582.jpg\" alt=\"fragonia\" width=\"160\" height=\"255\" \/> their \u2018nose\u2019, they decided to give that particular species a go. They planted a large enough quantity to produce a quantity of essential oil that could be tested for its properties. In 2001 the species became officially <em>Agonis fragrans<\/em>.
